Board Presidents Message- WHY LCPOA needs volunteers!

2/8/2021

It wasn't always like this; things were different back then. This is going to be a common saying someday as we progress slowly back to normal. But what is it normal?  Is what society doing today going to be normal? Between Zoom meetings and the lack of individuals physically participating is becoming commonplace. The isolation and the vacuum we place ourselves in by not participating in person is troubling me.

When the La Cresta Property Owners Association was formed very few properties were built out. Very few owners lived on the plateau. However, there was no lack of participation or volunteering by those here. Over the year’s things have become more difficult for this Association. Our monthly Board Zoom meeting are held with very few attendees.

Today I tell you that we lack volunteers. We need members who are willing to participate and help bring this community to its next great adventure. Members who want to guarantee their value in their property does not diminish but maintains and accelerates.

Several of our committees are well staffed and I compliment those members for stepping into the ring to make sure things happen. However other committees are almost nonexistent and only because your Board has stepped into the responsibility to do the work. For instance, the Road Committee became that vacuum this past year and the Board must consider hiring outside management to maintain, improve and guarantee that the roads that you have invested in remain intact.

Every September when we vote for board members, the lack of participation from this membership creates a twostep process just so that we can lower the quorum to get a quorum. This Association of 800 plus members relies on less than ¼ % of the membership to manage the Association.

Personally, if this is the direction that this Association continues to go on, the board members themselves may take their duties and outsource all management duties to an independent contractor. This could require LCPOA to increase the dues you now pay.

Can new participation of members bring new life to this community? Absolutely with every new thought, new idea, or new concept coming to the table, new opportunities for this community abound. Do I want to be the President of a Board who increases our yearly assessments? Not really but it is the lack of volunteerism from this community that will be the driving force!

Take a moment and go to the web page for your community, your web page and download the volunteer form, fill it out send it in! You do not need to select a committee. Once received a board member will be contacting you to see where you best fit into our mission of providing the members the security so that their wealth that you worked so hard for will be maintained.

Attend a Board meeting. Each month we place a banner to remind each of you of an upcoming meeting. We send email reminders to register for the Zoom Board meeting.
