Important updates

Southern California Edison (SCE) La Cresta Area Upgrades
SCE contracted Arizona Pipeline Co. to modernize and upgrade the power system in La Cresta.  You may notice increased commercial vehicle activity in the community and construction on several roads.  Please be extra vigilant and patient while navigating the roadways for the duration of this project.  Edison provided the below PDF notice for all LCPOA residents for information on the work being performed.

If you have any questions regarding this project please contact Louis Davis at Louis.Davis@sce.com or 951-249-8468.

“Snowmageddon” Photos
There is an opportunity to have your best pictures from ‘snowmageddon’ published.  NOAA is writing a paper for national presentation and permanent record covering the severe weather that was experienced on the night of December 30, 2014.  They are looking for pictures that show the depth of fallen snow and damage done to trees. They are also looking for a count of the number and type of trees damaged and the number that were destroyed or so damaged that they had to be removed from your property.  You can opt out of having your name placed with the picture if you wish to remain anonymous.  Please send your pictures, counts and name preference to Alex Tardy at alexander.tardy@noaa.gov. No one email is to be over 18MB. For more information contact Alex Tardy at the above email address or 858-675-8700 x 223.

New protest forms now available for 2015
CalFire recently announced they will send a new round of fire tax bills, with counties beginning with the letter "A" receiving bills first. It is important you file a protest every time you pay the fire tax so that you maximize your chances of receiving a refund if the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association's class action lawsuit currently underway is successful.

Click here to view filing instructions and download a copy of the form.

Although the lawsuit is moving forward slowly - partly as a result of its size and complexity and partly as a result of deliberate stalling by the state's attorneys - another hearing has been scheduled and the public is invited to attend. This hearing is on our "Motion to Certify Class," which establishes your right to be represented in the case. If you are interested in attending the hearing, mark your calendar with the following information:

Hearing: Motion to Certify Class (HJTA v. CalFire)
Date: June 12  Time: 11:00 am  Location: Sacramento Superior Court, Dept. 24,  720 9th St, Sacramento, CA95814

If you have any questions, you are invited to visit the FAQ section of our website here. (2015 Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association)

Severity of the Drought

3/18/2015

The State Water Board Chairman Felicia Marcus has stated that if the drought continues through next winter, and we do not conserve more, that the consequences could be even more catastrophic than they already are.  The State Water Resources Control Board has adopted an expanded emergency regulation to safeguard the state's remaining water supplies.  Local agencies will be able to fine property owners up to $500 a day for failure to implement conservation requirements. Everyone needs to be concerned about the drought and take whatever steps necessary to conserve. Check the Rancho Water website www.bewaterwise.com for additional information and ideas on water conservation, including available rebates.
